Background images are a staple of web design–they provide the backdrop for our designs and help to visually layout our content and with CSS3 we are able to do a lot more with multiple background images. One of my new favorite techniques using background images, is the fixed background image.

My CMS of choice is Expression Engine. With the Codeigniter framework, Expression Engine allows you to customize as deep as you have to without hacking the core. As a front-end developer this gives me amazing control over the design and layout without having to fuss with a bulky backend.

This blog was made with hand-coded goodness–for the moment. I plan on adding to and evolving this blog as time goes by so don’t be shocked when things change. I tend to get bored with layouts so I figured I would start with a completely blank canvas to add to and change whenever I have time or feel like it.

Being a father, full time web designer and student is very hard to juggle. Family obviously comes first, but I find my family time recently has taken a huge hit. There is no way I would let this happen if I didn’t 100% love what I do–I love designing and developing websites. I may need some personal time soon so I can recharge my batteries.

I’ve been putting this redesign off for a while now. Mainly because I’ve been doing so much work for 717 Studios. But I finally wrestled up some free time to come up with a shell; hopefully it turns into something I’m proud of, but for now it is a work in progress.
